Parkourius Park! A Bergsjön sensation since 2021! Have you ever heard of parkour? Parkour is a playful training method that strengthens your agility, mental capacity and creativity, and “the goal of parkour is to get from point A to point B as creatively as possible.” Outdoor play, physical activity, sport challenges, training and fun-gathering moments involving all ages is at the core of activity. With Parkourius Park we wish to inspire, foster and promote more community creativity and play and help make parkour part of the local identity!
“DARE to Build” is a design-and-build focused summer course at Chalmers University of Technology, offered to civil engineering and architecture masters students. It aims to offer the students a common and experimental learning platform and at the same time address and contribute to positive local development in Million Homes Programme areas such as Bergsjön.
The "Parkourius" project idea and concept was developed during the autumn semester of 2020 within the master course in architecture "Design and Planning for Social Inclusion” and in a co-creation process together with the local community and youth from Bergsjön interested in parkour. During the Summer of 2021, and together with 10 young summer workers from Bergsjön and Familjebostäder, the students of Dare to Build have designed and built this Parkour Park in this inspirational site surrounded by beautiful tall pine trees.
The project was carried out for five weeks starting on June 7th of 2021 and was funded by
Familjebostäder,
Chalmers University of Technology,
Derome and
